Meet Angelo, a young Great Dane who has overcome remarkable hardships. In Egypt, Angelo faced a dire situation, wandering the streets alone and starving. Desperate for food, he resorted to eating stones, which left him on the brink of death.
Luckily, Angelo’s fate changed for the better when a rescue worker discovered him in this critical condition. With immediate help, his life was saved just in time.
Angelo’s situation was grave. Severely undernourished and barely able to move, his condition was deteriorating rapidly due to the stones in his stomach. These stones blocked him from properly digesting food or passing waste, necessitating urgent medical intervention.
Hanan from Furever Rescue Foster was determined to help. Recognizing the emergency, she facilitated surgery to remove the stones from Angelo’s stomach. “The stones had stopped his digestive system from working,” Hanan explained to WiltshireLive, highlighting how even if he could eat, it wouldn’t have benefited him.
However, surgery was just the beginning of Angelo’s recovery journey. He needed intensive care, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and a special diet, all of which were costly.
Fortunately, Angelo’s story caught the attention of Justin Finning and his wife, Deborah. Experienced in rescuing Great Danes, especially those with special needs, they felt a strong connection to Angelo. Despite the challenge of Angelo being overseas and unable to travel until he was stable after surgery, the couple was determined to support him. They launched a fundraising effort to cover his medical expenses and ensure his recovery.
Once Angelo successfully completed his surgery and reached a stable condition, he was flown to his new forever home in the UK.
Hanan joyfully shared this achievement on Facebook, expressing gratitude to Justin and Deborah for welcoming Angelo into their lives and their home. This transition marked the start of a remarkable transformation for Angelo.
Under the devoted care of Justin and Deborah, Angelo gradually regained his strength and spirit. Regular therapy sessions helped him thrive, and he soon became an exuberant, lively dog. He now delights in running and playing in his expansive yard, enjoying beach outings with his family, and basking in attention.
Living alongside three other canine companions, Angelo now enjoys a life full of joy and discovery, embracing every moment of his newfound life.
