Initially, scanning the dog for a microchip didn’t lead to immediate results. That’s when the Microchip Hunters—a local group dedicated to reuniting pets with their families—stepped in to assist. With their help, Tanya and her team unveiled the dog’s true identity. She wasn’t a stray; she was Dottie, George’s long-lost pet, missing for an astonishing five years.
Upon hearing this joyous news, George hurried to the shelter. The reunion was a deeply emotional moment, filled with tears of happiness from everyone present. Tanya Ohanian shared with The Dodo, “It was emotional for all of us, … I think we were all in tears.”
Even after so many years apart, Dottie recognized her family immediately, snuggling into their warm embraces with the same love and trust as before.
