In Fort Worth, Texas, the dedicated team at Saving Hope Rescue (SHR) is committed to giving neglected animals a second chance, and their latest mission involved a heartwarming journey to save an abandoned puppy.
The story began when the team stumbled across a photo of a puppy living in a makeshift cardboard box. Determined to rescue this little one, they embarked on an eight-hour drive without hesitation, eager to provide the tiny creature with a cozy, safe new home.
Upon reaching their destination, the team carefully collected the puppy, who would soon be known as Ridley, and immediately took her to SHR’s clinic for an evaluation.
Ridley, a three-month-old bundle of energy and happiness, was greeted with love and treats. Yet, the vet found concerning news—Ridley had a severe heart defect, requiring a specific procedure known as balloon valvuloplasty at Texas A&M, according to SHR’s Facebook post.
During her wait for surgery, Ridley was placed in a nurturing foster home, where she experienced the joys of being a playful puppy. Her foster family, along with their pets, provided her a comforting environment, helping her thrive and learn new tricks. Ridley’s foster parents shared on Facebook about their adorable charge, describing her as energetic, intelligent, and brimming with affection.
Despite her heart issue, Ridley’s positive attitude never wavered. She enjoyed playing with her foster siblings and learning new commands, showing her strong fighting spirit.
Finally, the day of Ridley’s much-needed surgery arrived. The operation, which would allow her to lead a normal life, was successfully completed without any issues. SHR announced the good news on Facebook, assuring Ridley’s supporters that she would soon live life to the fullest.
While she recovers, Ridley continues to bask in the love of her foster family and canine companions. Her courageous journey assures everyone that she soon will find a forever home as wonderful as she is.
Her foster mom, Erin O’Brien, proudly referred to her as “the perfect little pittie girl,” a sentiment shared by everyone involved in her rescue and recovery.
