Breathtaking slow-motion footage showcases a cheetah’s incredible ability to sprint at speeds exceeding 60 mph, captured in vivid high definition.
Filmed by National Geographic using a Phantom high-speed camera, the footage was recorded at an impressive 1200 frames per second, revealing every muscle movement in astonishing detail.

As the cheetah runs, its body appears to float momentarily, with all four paws lifted at once.
The video features five cheetahs from Cincinnati Zoo chasing a furry lure as part of the filming. Remarkably, some big cats nearly caught the lure in their chase.

This footage complements the National Geographic article “Cheetahs on the Edge,” which sheds light on the ongoing struggle to protect these extraordinary animals from extinction.
