In Kuna, Idaho, Toad, a German Shorthaired Pointer, had a dangerous encounter while wandering outdoors when he was bitten multiple times by a rattlesnake.
Fritz Brownell, Toad’s owner, shared the intense moment with KTVB, saying, “I saw a snake flipping through the air and realized it had bitten Toad. When I tried to grab him, I mistakenly found myself amidst several snakes.”
Immediately after the incident, Toad’s owners rushed him to the vet. Unfortunately, the venom had already spread, causing him to bleed from his lips and gums. The veterinary team quickly assessed the situation and discovered multiple bites on Toad’s face and his front left leg. Despite the swelling, they administered an anti-venom injection promptly.
Worried about his survival, Toad’s owners were relieved when he started to recover. They are now advising other pet owners to exercise caution in areas where rattlesnakes might be present.
According to Idaho Fish and Game, it’s wise to keep pets on a leash while hiking in the foothills or desert to prevent similar incidents.
