Learning about the mistreatment of dogs can be incredibly disheartening, especially when these loyal animals deserve so much compassion and care. Unfortunately, not all dog owners show the love and kindness that these creatures need. Some resort to cruelty, abandoning the pets that have given them unconditional trust.
Snapple is a dog who has experienced such betrayal. Her story involves heartless owners who left her tied to a dumpster without any regard for her safety. She was left to fend for herself in a truly pitiful situation.

Fortunately, this story takes a positive turn. Donna Lochmann, along with her team from Stray Rescue of St. Louis, was traveling through Missouri’s capital when they spotted Snapple amidst a pile of trash. The rescuers, acting swiftly and with empathy, went straight to help her.
Upon approaching, they realized Snapple was not merely lying in the trash—she was tied to a dumpster with a cable that was tangled around a fence. “We pulled up to find a dog lying in a pile of trash, looking up at us,” noted the Stray Rescue of St. Louis team in a heartfelt Facebook post.
Initially, Snapple was understandably apprehensive. As the rescue team approached, she barked out of fear, not yet able to discern their good intentions. But the rescuers, understanding her reluctance, persisted. Lochmann, determined to win her trust, offered Snapple some Vienna sausages. The dog eventually let her guard down and allowed them to put a leash on her.

Once free, the rescuers brought Snapple to their car. Though she was wary at first, she soon realized she was in safe hands. They took her to their shelter, providing her with a calming bath and a thorough medical checkup. Thankfully, Snapple was found to be in good health.
Despite the physical recovery, Snapple was still shaken by her ordeal. Her new shelter friends in St. Louis were dedicated to reassuring her that she would never be hurt or left behind again. Showering her with love and patience, they began to see the sweet dog relax and open up.
Snapple slowly started to trust again, expressing her gratitude by showering her caregivers with affectionate kisses. Although the scars of her past still linger, Snapple is on a path to complete healing. She is available for adoption, but her caregivers are ensuring she has the time she needs to fully recover emotionally.

The team at Stray Rescue of St. Louis understands that every dog has its own healing timeline. “She can let those walls down when she’s ready,” they shared. They remain committed to being there for Snapple every step of the way, offering her all the love and support she needs to thrive.
Snapple is on the journey to finding a loving forever home. Her rescuers are hopeful that she will soon experience the joy and happiness she truly deserves. They eagerly anticipate snapping the perfect picture of Snapple as the happiest dog in the world.
