Encountering an abandoned dog is always heartbreaking, especially when it involves an entire family! Without proper shelter and care, many dogs struggle to survive. Those that do often require a long road to recovery.
In a Southern California neighborhood, a woman passing by was drawn to high-pitched yelping coming from a raised flowerbed. Upon investigating, she discovered five tiny, vulnerable puppies nestled within.

Puppies Guarded by Their Mama
It was shocking to see puppies in a flowerbed, as they couldn’t have climbed in there on their own. They had clearly been abandoned.
Fortunately, the puppies appeared healthy and were being well cared for by their protective mother.
The woman attempted to assist, but the mother dog was fiercely protective, growling and barking to keep her distance.
Realizing that rescuing them would require help, the woman contacted Suzette Hall from Logan’s Legacy in Irvine, California.
A Challenging Rescue
Upon arriving at the scene, Hall was devastated. It was hard to comprehend why someone would abandon such an adorable family.
“I was shocked when I saw them. The mother wouldn’t let me near. The wind was strong, and I knew they were cold,” Hall shared.
Since the mother dog was aggressive, Hall took a cautious approach. One by one, she gently placed the puppies into a crate. However, capturing the mother proved to be much more difficult.
After several failed attempts, Hall set a humane trap baited with food, placing the crate of puppies nearby.
Finally in Safe Hands
After some time, the mother finally took the bait. Once Hall had her safely in the back of the car next to her puppies, the protective demeanor faded.
“After I got her out of the trap, she relaxed. She no longer had to be brave. She could finally rest, knowing her family was safe,” Hall wrote on her Facebook.
It was a tender reunion as the mother dog lovingly inspected each of her puppies.
Hall transported them to Camino Pet Hospital in Irvine for checkups and care, where they quickly became favorites among the staff!
Safe and sound, the family began to relax and enjoy their newfound safety.
Awaiting Forever Homes
The mother, named Bambi, and her five puppies were placed in a foster home. They are growing stronger each day, eagerly awaiting that special someone to adopt them!
Bambi, once so fearful, is now a loving and sweet dog, thriving under the care of her foster family. When the time is right, I hope she finds the loving home she truly deserves!
