Cruelty to animals is heartbreakingly common, as illustrated by the story of a dog once trapped in a cycle of abuse and neglect. This unfortunate pup spent her entire existence confined to a tiny cage, only to be abandoned in a park.
On what seemed like a regular day, a woman strolling through the park stumbled upon an unexpected cardboard box. Curiosity led her to inspect the contents, and she was horrified to discover a severely underweight dog inside. Determined to help, she quickly contacted local animal rescuers.

The responders arrived swiftly and were shocked by the appalling condition of the dog. They speculated that she had spent her entire life in the cramped cage, resulting in muscle atrophy that left her unable to move. Compounded by malnutrition, her health was severely compromised. Urgently, they brought her to a veterinary clinic.
At the clinic, veterinarians confirmed that the dog had endured months of starvation, evident from her emaciated frame. The vets also discovered that the prolonged malnourishment had taken a toll on her organs. Of particular concern was the necrosis affecting her hind legs—a condition proving difficult to manage despite ongoing treatment.
In an effort to save the dog, the medical team concluded that amputating her hind legs was the only viable option. Though heart-wrenching, the surgery was performed successfully, marking the first step towards her recovery. Her caretakers and rescuers, deeply invested in her wellbeing, supported her through therapy and rehabilitation.
With dedicated care, the dog’s condition gradually improved. She gained weight and also underwent skin graft surgery. When complications arose with the healing of one leg, it was addressed promptly, resulting in further progress.
Within three months, the dog’s transformation was remarkable. Her spirits lifted, and she began to interact playfully with her rescuers. With her newfound strength, it was time for a fresh start in a loving home. One of her rescuers decided to adopt her, naming her Mika.
Settling into her new environment, Mika adjusted swiftly and flourished in her forever home. Her progress is evident every day, much to the delight and pride of her new owner and those who rescued her. Mika’s story is a testament to resilience and the life-changing power of compassion and care.
