The trade of dog meat in Southeast Asia, including its presence in Cambodian restaurants, is a distressing reality that has turned many meat farms into makeshift slaughterhouses. In spite of these grim circumstances, there are dedicated individuals working tirelessly to save these animals from such terrible fates.
One such person is Michael Chour, the founder of The Sound of Animals, an organization committed to rescuing dogs from the meat trade in Southeast Asia. Chour is a passionate advocate against the consumption of dog meat and has made strides in rescuing dogs en route to slaughter.

A recent rescue involved a dog that had been sold to a slaughterhouse and was on the brink of death. The butchers had carelessly packed him in a bag, smeared with blood and mud, treating him as nothing more than a mere object. Despite this harrowing situation, the dog was saved thanks to the timely intervention of Michael Chour.
Upon discovering the animal’s dire condition, Chour immediately purchased the dog and rushed him to the Angkor Veterinary Clinic for medical care. Afterward, the dog was taken to an animal shelter where he received much-needed attention and care.

His journey to recovery continued as the dog was temporarily placed in a shelter in O Smach, Cambodia. There, his health was evaluated before he would be transported to a larger facility operated by The Sound of Animals in Ban Kruat District, Thailand.
Michael Chour’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, and gratitude is owed to him for his determination and compassion. His commitment to rescuing and protecting these dogs is truly commendable and reflects an extraordinary level of kindness and dedication.
