In a remarkable act of kindness and bravery, veterinarian Soner Büyümez played a crucial role in saving a family of dogs in distress.
While working in an orchard on a rural farm in Turkey, Soner and a colleague heard a dog’s desperate cries following a recent landslide. Upon investigating, they found a mother dog trapped in the dirt, unable to move, and realized she had given birth nearby on a slope that collapsed during the landslide.

The two rescuers first freed the mother dog, who remained anxious even after being saved. Her distress soon became clear—her puppies were still buried. Soner and his colleague immediately started digging with their hands, determined to rescue the hidden pups.
After some time, their efforts revealed a small puppy covered in dirt. Motivated by the urgency of the situation, they continued, eventually uncovering six more puppies. Tragically, one puppy did not survive the ordeal, but the remaining pups were safe, thanks to the persistent efforts of their rescuers.

Relieved and grateful, the mother dog could finally relax with her puppies in a safe and secure environment. Soner, touched by the experience, chose to keep the dog family on his farm, ensuring they would have a safe place to live and thrive.
“Their general condition is very good. The mother and her puppies are protected… I will care for them as my own,” Soner shared with The Dodo.

Despite the heartache of losing one puppy, the family now enjoys a peaceful life on Soner’s farm, where he continues to care for multiple dogs by providing food, shelter, and love. His compassion underscores the profound connection between humans and animals, showing that true heroism is often found in everyday acts of kindness.
