In Wilson County, 11 severely malnourished dogs have been rescued from a property in La Vernia, following a tip-off from a concerned passerby. These animals were in dire health, with one of the dogs, named Titan, sadly passing away shortly after the rescue due to his extreme condition.
The surviving dogs are suffering from a range of health issues. They are infested with fleas and have skin conditions like mange, leading to hair loss. The lack of food and water has caused anemia, and many are struggling with infections from parasites such as hookworms, whipworms, roundworms, and coccidia. Currently, these dogs are receiving care at the Wilson County No Kill Animal Shelter.
Authorities are seeking Glori Penshorn, the property’s owner, who is facing her second animal abuse charge. Previously, she was accused of neglecting 84 dogs under similar circumstances, but she managed to escape legal repercussions at that time.
An update from the authorities confirms that Glori has now been detained and charged with “Cruelty to Non-Livestock Animals,” which is classified as a Class A misdemeanor. If convicted, she could face up to a year in jail, a fine of $4,000, or both. The investigation is still active, and further charges may be on the horizon. There is hope within the community for a sentence that will effectively prevent any future animal mistreatment by Glori or others.
