Aria and Grace Keilbach, sisters from Colorado, embarked on a journey to the island of Saipan with the noble mission of advocating for the well-being of boonie dogs. Over time, their endeavors led them to transform the lives of countless dogs, including Mango, a remarkable stray they encountered.
Mango’s story is one of compassion and resilience. When Aria and her team discovered Mango, she was a malnourished stray wandering along a jungle road. Despite her rough circumstances, Mango approached the humane trap set by Aria, the founder of Boonie Babies, with a surprising trust. Realizing that Mango was a nursing mother, they searched the surrounding area for her puppies but found none, leading them to bring Mango to their rescue center.
However, Mango had a secret—one she was determined to convey. Persistently seeking Aria’s attention at the shelter, Mango’s intuition led the team back to the jungle. There, the sounds of yelping revealed the hidden location of her pups, nestled away for safety. As shared on the Boonie Babies’ Instagram, “This super sweet mama found dumped on Lau Lau road had an amazing rescue journey in which she led us to her puppies hidden in the jungle.”
The rescuers managed to find two puppies buried amid the dense foliage. “We were in it, trudging through, ripping branches apart,” Aria recounted to The Dodo. This discovery brought immense joy to Mango, who was finally reunited with her offspring in a safe environment.
While the rescue of Mango began as a straightforward mission, it turned into an inspiring tale of motherhood and community. At the shelter, Mango not only nurtured her own puppies but also embraced three orphaned pups, showing her natural sweetness and caring instincts. As Boonie Babies described, “Along with having an amazing temperament with people, kids, and other dogs, she even adopted 3 orphaned puppies into her litter.”
Mango’s personality blossomed as she cared for these puppies, marking her transformation into a prime candidate for adoption. The rescue shared, “Mango is available for adoption anytime, she’s been an amazing mama but it’s time for her to get her own happy ending and attention.”
After receiving interest from various families, Mango and her puppy, Tequila, were adopted by two sisters who provided them access to love and adventure. Together now, they enjoy playdates, walks, and shared experiences—a well-deserved happy chapter in Mango’s life.
